Rosenbauer Receives Order for Two-Piece Squad Company Apparatus for Chicago Fire Department

WYOMING, MN (January 28, 2013) – Rosenbauer has secured a five-year contract with the Chicago Fire Department to replace its two-piece Squad Companies. The first order includes two Rosenbauer 55′ Articulating Cobra Platforms (ACP-55) and two Walk-In Rescues, all built on the innovative Commander chassis introduced in 2012.

“We are proud to support the Chicago Fire Department,” said Harold Boer, President of Rosenbauer America. “It’s an honor that they’ve chosen the Commander chassis for their squad companies. We believe it will be a perfect fit and look forward to strengthening our relationship with them.”

The ACP-55 is built on the Commander chassis, featuring a long two-door cab with a flat roof. It includes seating for two and a large rear compartment. The heavy-duty 3/16″ EXT aluminum body comes with a lifetime transferable warranty and offers over 400 cubic feet of storage space. With a 750-pound tip load and up to 1250 GPM flow, the ACP-55 also boasts Smart Aerial technology, Soft-Touch controls, and corrosion-resistant torque boxes and outriggers with a 25-year warranty.

The second part of the order includes two Walk-In Rescues, also on the Commander chassis. These feature a 60-inch cab with a 24-inch raised roof and can seat six. The 18-foot rescue body includes over 600 cubic feet of storage space, again using the durable EXT construction.

The Chicago Fire Department is the second-largest fire department in the U.S. and the oldest organized fire department in the country. With nearly 5,000 firefighters and paramedics, it operates out of 98 stations across the city.

Trans-Chicago Truck Group, a Rosenbauer dealer based in Elmhurst, Illinois, provides service and support to the department.
