This report comes from Niko Stefani:

The Lake Forest Fire Department responded to a semi on fire on southbound Route 41, just north of Deerpath Road near the hospital entrance. The driver managed to separate his trailer, which was carrying cheese, before emergency crews arrived. Dispatchers reported that the rear brakes were on fire, and Battalion 42 was among the first to arrive at the scene with a fully involved trailer. As a result, Route 41 was closed, and traffic was being diverted onto Gage Lane. There were challenges in setting up a water supply, so Engine 422 laid a supply line from the hospital to the location. Ernie’s Wrecker Service was called in to tow the trailer away. Due to the extremely cold temperatures, IDOT was requested to make a few passes with salt on the road. On-site, the following units responded from Lake Forest: Squad 421, Engine 422, Ambulance 421, Utility 421, and Battalion 42. Additional help came from Lake Bluff Engine 4519 and Knollwood Engine 44. Thanks for the updates.

Photos from the scene show firefighters working quickly to control the blaze, with one image capturing a firefighter opening a hydrant. Another shows the burning truck on the highway, while a third highlights the Lake Forest Fire Department's apparatus arriving at the scene. These images provide a clear look at the effort and coordination needed to handle such an incident. It’s always impressive to see how quickly local departments respond and work together under challenging conditions. More photos are expected as the situation develops.
