On Sunday night, January 5, 2020, firefighters from Buffalo Grove were dispatched to Dengeos Restaurant located at 195 W. Dundee Road following reports of a fire. Upon arrival, police officers observed smoke billowing outside the building and moving across the street. Firefighters could see flames visible through the trim on the C-D corner of the structure, with thick smoke coming from inside. The incident was upgraded to a Code 4, prompting additional units to respond.
Firefighters quickly began ventilating the roof and removing sections of the siding to assess the extent of the damage. They discovered heavy charring along the corner of the building, indicating a significant fire had been burning inside. The scene involved multiple units from Buffalo Grove, including Quint 25, Engine 26, Engine 27, Ambulance 25, Ambulance 26, Battalion 4, Car 208, and the deputy chief.
