The Elk Grove Township Fire District is using this engine, formerly owned by the Galesburg Fire Department, while they are having work performed on their main unit. Bill Friedrich photo This engine served the Galesburg Fire Department as Engine 52. It was built in 2003 on a Spartan Diamond chassis by Alexis, featuring a 1,500-GPM pump and 600 gallons of water. I took the image of the loaner engine that Elk Grove is using while their Spartan/Alexis unit is being repaired. This particular engine is X-Galesburg FD Engine 52. I also included a shot of the same rig when it was still with Galesburg.
Bill Friedrich shared a photo of the engine currently being used by the Elk Grove Township Fire Department, which was previously owned by the Galesburg Fire Department.
It’s always interesting to see how fire departments share resources during maintenance or repairs. This particular engine has a long history and now finds itself in a new location, continuing its service. The photos give a nice look at both the current use and past life of the vehicle.
