The Alsip Fire Department has recently received a 2012 Seagrave Marauder II pumper, marking an important upgrade to their fleet. Once training and equipment installation are complete, Engine 2063 will be deployed at Station 1 on Pulaski, while Engine 2023 will transition to reserve status at Station 2. The older 1986 Spartan/Grumman/TeleSqurt engine, known as Engine 2053, is set to be decommissioned and will soon find a new purpose in Ecuador. With this acquisition, Alsip now operates three Seagrave engines and one Seagrave truck, making them one of the few departments in the region with a fully Seagrave fleet. This new 2012 Seagrave Marauder II is the first engine in Alsip’s inventory to feature roll-up doors and a powerful 2,000-GPM pump. It also includes a painted steel bumper with chevron striping, a zolatone pump panel instead of traditional brushed stainless steel, and the first use of shorter “barrier-style” doors in the department. These design changes reflect modern advancements and improved functionality for the firefighters who will operate it. A comparison with the older 2007 Seagrave Marauder I unit (Engine 2023) shows that while both are built on similar chassis, the newer model offers increased pumping capacity and updated features. The 2007 unit, which was built during Seagrave’s 150th anniversary year, still serves well but now stands as a historical piece alongside its more advanced counterpart. One notable addition to the new engine is a new tag on the pump panel that clearly lists the capacities of water and foam tanks. This detail is especially appreciated by fire apparatus enthusiasts and historians, as it adds clarity and educational value to the vehicle's design. The attention to detail highlights the department’s commitment to both performance and transparency. With this latest update, the Alsip Fire Department continues to modernize its operations while maintaining a strong connection to its history and legacy.
