**Hangzhou, China, September 11, 2014** — Glodon Software Co. Ltd. (SZSE: GLD), a leading Chinese company in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) technology sector, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Autodesk Software (China) Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK), a global pioneer in 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software. This collaboration aims to promote the widespread adoption and application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology within China's construction industry. As two prominent players in the AEC software space, both organizations anticipate this partnership will drive innovation and efficiency across the industry.
Jim Lynch, Vice President of the Building and Collaboration Group at Autodesk, and Jia Xiaoping, President and Director of Glodon, signed the MoU in Hangzhou. Other attendees included Richard Li, Director of AEC/ENI/MFG China at Autodesk; Ling Zhao, Senior Director of Engineering at Autodesk China Research and Development Center (ACRD); Diao Zhizhong, Chairman of Glodon; and Dr. Yuan Zhenggang, Deputy General Manager of Glodon.
According to China's National Bureau of Statistics, the total output of the country’s construction industry surpassed 15 trillion yuan in 2013. Despite this impressive scale and rapid growth, the industry faces challenges such as low levels of informatization and productivity, as highlighted in the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China (MOHURD)’s 12th Five-Year Plan for Construction Industry Development. BIM, an integrated 3D modeling process that enables architects, engineers, builders, and owners to explore and optimize a project’s critical physical and functional attributes—such as cost, scheduling, and environmental impact—before construction begins, has been recognized for accelerating informatization and enhancing productivity. In fact, MOHURD has identified BIM as a key technology for informatization in its Outline of Information Development for the Construction Industry from 2011 to 2015. The report emphasized the importance of construction firms adopting and applying BIM technology during the construction phase, positioning it as a strategic priority. Although still in the early stages of adoption, BIM holds immense potential to transform China’s construction landscape and fuel its growth.
As a leader in construction software in China and a trailblazer in BIM research, Glodon Software has developed a comprehensive suite of BIM-based solutions covering the entire building lifecycle and every stage of construction projects.
Under the terms of the MoU, Autodesk and Glodon will collaborate to enhance interoperability between their software products and jointly promote BIM awareness and understanding through marketing initiatives in China.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Autodesk, one of the world’s foremost BIM technology providers,†said Jia Xiaoping, President of Glodon. “Our BIM technologies complement each other, and I believe this collaboration will significantly boost the adoption of BIM in China’s construction market, driving industry progress.â€
“It’s an honor to team up with Glodon, a respected leader in China’s AEC industry,†remarked Jim Lynch, Vice President of the Building & Collaboration Group at Autodesk. “This collaboration underscores our commitment to serving the Chinese market and our local partners. I’m confident that our joint efforts will accelerate BIM adoption and empower both parties’ customers to enhance productivity and competitiveness.â€
