Early this morning, before 5 AM on Friday, a concerned resident of Riverwoods picked up the phone and dialed the fire department to report a disturbing sight next door—a house on fire. The residence, located near the intersection of Robinwood and Duffy Lanes, was showing signs of distress with thick plumes of smoke billowing out of one of its garages. As Lincolnshire-Riverwoods firefighters rushed to the scene, they discovered a home nearing completion at #2 Wildflower Lane. Inside one of the two attached two-car garages, flames were raging, already causing significant damage to the metal overhead door. The fire had spread enough to fill the entire house with smoke, prompting the emergency response team to upgrade the alarm to a full-blown working fire. This call for additional resources brought an engine from Deerfield and a tanker from Prospect Heights to assist.
Within about 20 minutes, the firefighters managed to contain the fire to the garage area and the adjoining entryway, preventing it from spreading further. The scene was chaotic but under control, thanks to the swift actions of the emergency teams on site. Larry Shapiro and Tim Olk were present and captured several images of the event.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety measures, especially during construction phases when homes are particularly vulnerable. The coordinated efforts of the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District, alongside support from neighboring departments, played a crucial role in minimizing potential damage and keeping the community safe.
