China remained the largest source of imported parts for India in 2013, and exported a total of US$2.62 billion worth of auto parts to India, up 10% year-on-year. Germany followed closely, and exports to parts of India for 2013 The year-on-year decrease was 3% to 1.86 billion U.S. dollars; India's imports from Japan in 2013 reached 1.62 billion U.S. dollars, down 14% year-on-year. India's imported auto parts are mainly divided into two major categories. The first category is high-tech parts, mainly imported from Germany, Japan, South Korea and Thailand; while imports from China are mainly aftermarket parts. Despite the shrinking of parts and components import business, the export business of parts and components in India continued to grow, with a year-on-year increase of 4.4% to US$6.99 billion. The United States is India’s largest export market for parts and components. Last year’s exports fell by 7% to 1.98 billion U.S. dollars. Exports to Germany, the second largest export market, rose 8.6% year-on-year to US$780 million. The market value of Britain's exports reached 580 million U.S. dollars, which was also a 3.6% year-on-year increase.
