Weatherford designed and developed the arrow type plug-in screw pump. Since the requirement is only the sucker rod movement, not the tubing string, the plug-in screw pump reduces the pump travel and residence time when increasing the phase. This patented design reduces pump component length by 1/2 to 2/3. Therefore, the new screw pump can be lifted very high and has a large capacity. According to the tubing size and operating conditions, the new pump has a capacity of 685t/d and a lifting height of 1600m. In addition, this shorter pump construction facilitates transportation and handling.

The pump is fixed with a single pump seat and a non-rotating tool, without the need for special shorting. The new pump is simple to install and does not have to be isolated from the tubing to accommodate the length of this particular pump. Therefore, different sizes of plug-in pumps can be applied to the same tubing without the need to lift the tubing. The simplified components are easier to operate, more reliable than dual junction systems, and rarely adhered to sand or cuttings. Before the insertion of the plug-in screw pump tubing into the casing, the lifting tool was originally applied to the ordinary screw pump, and the method of frequently changing the pump to reduce the maintenance cost was effectively compensated.

Recently, Weatherford applied the new system to Canadian oil fields and was launched after about 17 months of application of a common pump in a horizontal well. The plug-in screw pump flushing device was used for workover, and the working time was only 3 hours. If you use a common screw pump to complete the same type of work, it takes 8 hours. The cost of changing a pump for a flushing unit is usually $141/h, while the cost of replacing a conventional screw pump with a workover rig is $266/h, and the pump efficiency after replacing the new pump is 91%.
