The first carbon dioxide stimulation operation in the Tuha Basin was successfully implemented in the Ying 2 horizontal well on June 9th, filling a technical gap in the Tuha oilfield.

In the eyes of geological personnel, the Ying 2 horizontal well in the territory of Shanshan County, Xinjiang is a pre-exploration well in the eastern part of the Luketun area of the Foshan Mountain Central Uplift Belt in the Tuha Basin. Here, the Tuha oil field found heavy oil. In order to improve the flow capacity of underground heavy oil and increase the capacity of single well, Tuha Oilfield Company decided to introduce new technologies for the application of carbon dioxide. This technology mainly uses the viscosity reduction effect of carbon dioxide on heavy oil, thereby achieving the purpose of increasing production.

The first carbon dioxide stimulation operation was completed by the collaboration between Tuhajingxia and Changqing. The construction lasted nearly 2 hours, and a total of more than 90 cubic meters of liquid carbon dioxide was injected, with a maximum pump pressure of more than 30 MPa.
