On the afternoon of February 28, 2008, the completion of another towering structure within Zoomlion Science and Technology Park marked a significant milestone for the company's National Technology Center. This new test tower, serving as a key facility for the National Key Laboratory Integrated Transmission Laboratory, is set to play a crucial role in advancing research on common technologies related to large inertia hoisting systems. To address the industry-wide challenge of short-lived main hoisting wire ropes, Zoomlion’s National Technology Center formed a dedicated research team in 2007. Following over six months of intensive technical development, the team successfully designed and built a specialized test tower tailored for large inertia hoisting mechanisms. The newly constructed test tower stands over 50 meters tall, with a maximum single-rope test capacity exceeding 20 tons. It is capable of meeting the experimental needs of the main hoisting mechanisms used across most of the company’s current product lines. By simulating real-world working conditions of construction machinery, the platform thoroughly tests and verifies the performance of large inertia hoisting systems, aiming to find optimal solutions that enhance system efficiency and reliability. Designed with a modular approach, the test platform allows flexible configurations based on different testing requirements. The hoisting mechanism can be operated using various drive methods, such as electric-mechanical, full hydraulic, electro-hydraulic proportional, or frequency conversion control. The system features a PLC-based intelligent control system, managed through a large, color LCD touch screen with full Chinese interface. It automatically records the test cycle and includes multiple layers of safety protection, along with sound and light alarm functions, ensuring smooth, safe, and reliable operation. Additionally, the test platform incorporates advanced technological applications, making it one of the most sophisticated facilities of its kind in the industry. Its integration of modern control systems and flexible design not only enhances testing accuracy but also supports future innovations in hoisting technology. This achievement highlights Zoomlion’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of engineering excellence and driving sustainable growth in the construction equipment sector.
