[Downstream of China Instrument Network Instrument] On December 28th, the reporter learned from Wuxi, Jiangsu that Wuxi Mobile had built the first NB-IoT commercial network in the province in the town of Hongshan Internet of Things. Less than two months after the release of the “China Wuxi Hongshan Internet of Things Town Planning”, one of the highlights of the 2016 World IoT Expo, Wuxi Mobile has taken the lead in completing the full coverage of the NB-IoT network in Hongshan Township.

What is NB-IoT? The cellular narrowband Internet of Things. There are many wireless communication technologies for the Internet of Things, and NB-IoT has become an important branch of the Internet of Everything. This is an emerging technology in the Internet of Things (IoT) space, which supports low-power devices for cellular data connectivity in wide area networks. It is also known as Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWA). Trial data shows that narrow-band Internet of Things highlights four major advantages. One is that the coverage is wide and the depth coverage is better. The network will have a gain of about 20 dB under the same conditions; the second is a large connection, and the single cell supports a linking number of 50,000 to 100,000; the third is a low cost, the chip cost is greatly reduced; and the fourth is power consumption. Low, lower energy consumption, standby up to 10 years.

In November 2016, Wuxi Mobile cooperated with Wuxi Xinwu District to launch the construction of the Hongshan Internet of Things Township, based on the unified open platform of China Mobile's OneNET Internet of Things, and China Mobile’s advantages in security encryption, cloud services, and big data, etc. The unique cultural characteristics of Wu culture in Hongshan Township and the appearance of Jiangnan Water Village help Hongshan Town to build a global leading NB-IoT network and build a global visitor center in Hongshan Town. This will help gather industrial ecological resources and attract Universities, recreation spaces, industry experts, application developers, and investment institutions are co-located to incubate a series of mature Internet of Things applications in areas such as smart tourism, agriculture, transportation, healthcare, public services, and the environment. The world-famous IoT town that sets the technology of Internet of things research and development, industry agglomeration, customer service, and application demonstration.

The so-called OneNET IoT Unified Open Platform is the unified open platform for the Internet of Things launched by China Mobile IoT in 2014, which has completely changed the openness problems caused by the traditional independent deployment of various IoT application platforms. The platform can fully integrate the technical capabilities and resources of the Internet of Things industry chain, and is compatible with the types of sensing terminal equipment, industry standards, and technical specifications in different business areas, supporting the communication mechanisms and collaboration methods between different sensor terminals and different systems, and achieving intelligence. Terminals, personalized services, and applications can be accessed flexibly and conveniently. At present, China Mobile's OneNET IoT platform has nearly 3,000 enterprise customers, and the number of IoT terminal connections exceeds 86 million, which has become the world's largest public Internet of Things. Undoubtedly, the OneNET platform will help Hongshan Town become the center of the global Internet of Things and a center for innovation. The convergence of Wuxi's Internet of Things and entrepreneurship will create industrial advantages and will play a strong local driving force and influence.

In addition, China Mobile Internet of Things has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Wuxi Municipal Government, and will establish a branch in Wuxi to deploy and open a unified public service platform for Internet of Things to create a customer innovation center.
