Recently, Hunan Ketong Electric Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. successfully developed the WS1-4 (10) all-digital DC speed control system for excavators. This advanced equipment represents a significant technological breakthrough, offering stable performance and overcoming many of the limitations found in existing electric excavator systems on the market.
According to industry reports, the construction of open-pit mines, water conservancy projects, and power infrastructure heavily relies on excavator equipment. However, the current electric drive and control systems in China typically use traditional F-D motor-generator sets or thyristor-based excitation control systems. These conventional setups suffer from several drawbacks, including significant power grid disturbances, severe waveform distortion, high mechanical stress on motors and components, excessive energy consumption, slow response times, and poor "excavator characteristics" such as hardness and instability. Additionally, these systems are often heavy, noisy, and require frequent maintenance, which negatively impacts both equipment integrity and overall productivity.
The newly developed all-digital DC speed control system is based on the M drive module from British CT Company, integrated with a PLC program controller. By replacing hardware with software, the system reduces wiring complexity and potential fault points, enhancing overall anti-interference capability and control precision. The signal processing is handled by a 32-bit microprocessor, allowing quick parameter access through the panel for efficient control, monitoring, and protection. The system also features built-in fault diagnosis, enabling reliable motor protection. In case of failure, the system provides prompt alerts, allowing rapid troubleshooting and minimizing downtime, thus improving operational efficiency and mining output.
Furthermore, by eliminating high-voltage asynchronous machines and generator sets, the system significantly reduces noise and vibration, creating a much better working environment. The drive consists of a main board, a power amplifier board, and power components. These boards are compatible with various bucket shovel configurations, resulting in a spare parts ratio of less than 3%. This not only lowers maintenance costs but also improves energy efficiency, making the system more sustainable and cost-effective in the long run.
