A "non-electric, fuel-efficient mountain irrigation system" known as the water hammer pump has recently been installed in Chunan County and two villages located along a river. The official launch of the Chunan Water Hammer Pump Conservation Project marks a significant step forward in sustainable agricultural development in mountainous regions.
The water hammer pump is an energy-efficient device that utilizes the water hammer effect to convert low water head into high pressure, enabling water to be lifted without the need for electricity or fuel. It operates continuously, day and night, using water itself as the driving force. This makes it an ideal solution for remote and resource-limited areas where traditional irrigation systems are impractical or too costly.
The implementation of this project in Chunan County is expected to have a major impact on solving irrigation challenges in mountainous areas. It will help improve the efficiency of field irrigation, support wet irrigation for economic crops such as tea plantations and orchards, enhance drought resistance, and contribute to better ecological conditions.
